Will God Really Provide For My Needs?

Real Mom Andrea Shares Her Story of Fear and Faith

Will God really provide for our needs?

My friend, Andrea, and her family lost their rental home unexpectedly at no fault of their own. Andrea and Eric considered all their options: should we buy? Can we buy? What homes are up for rent?—No options for their family of five and their animals in rural Nebraska close to Eric’s job. None.

Will God Provide for My Needs?

Speeding towards their deadline, they finally found a house that might work, but the deal derailed.

We picked out a bridge to sleep under,” Andrea jokes—kind of. “We knew we needed to stay in the area for my husband’s pastorate. God called us here. But how would He provide a home?”

Discouraged, Andrea drove home one stormy day crying and praying.

Do you even hear me, God? If you hear me, please give me a rainbow.”

Immediately she looked to her right and God gifted her a rainbow so close she felt like she could walk a few paces and enter into the beams. She pulled over to the side of the road and wept.

Breathing in the hues calibrated her heart, but then the fear crashed through.

If you REALLY hear me, please give me another one so I know it’s really you,” she prayed.

The pain of her unsure future still clouded her trust as she finished the commute. When she pulled into her driveway, a full rainbow painted the sky.

Okay God. I know you are here. Then why can’t I see what you are up to?”

God’s promises to meet our needs often requires faith. Faith is the confidence that God’s word is true, despite our current circumstances.Faith is confidence that God’s at work behind the clouds of our perception.

Andrea’s faith continues to stretch in this season of housing crisis for her family, but the rainbows that day continue to remind her God’s truths from His word:

  • He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)
  • He will meet our every need according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19)
  • He is able to strengthen us in the inner (wo)man. (Ephesians 3:16)
  • He promises to guide us in the way we should go (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Matthew 6:25-34. Jesus encourages His disciples to live in faith instead of discouragement when it comes to provision. God takes care of the birds and the flowers of the field—so too, He will meet our needs.

Will God Provide For My Needs?

As Eric and Andrea continue to seek the Lord, God’s providing:

  • A temporary housing situation.
  • Land to build on.
  • A builder that is working with their budget.
  • A helpful well-digger.
  • Inner peace knowing God is leading them to this land in this season.

Mama, whatever your needs for living—whether brick and mortar, food for your tummy, clothes for your family—God will meet your needs as you seek his kingdom and his righteousness.

But seek first His kingdom and righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.” Matthew 6:33-34.
