As I look at our nation today I think about the many battles our children will face that we can’t yet see. Wars. Changes in politics. Social injustices. Spiritual challenges beyond our imaginations. How can our hearts prepare their hearts for the future?
My little love just wants to be with mama all—the—time. Which means make-up brushes become makeshift cars while he waits patiently. What he doesn’t know is that I’m praying hard for him the whole time—for the man he’ll become, for him to love and to serve the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind and strength as he grows.
I pray for him not to fall hard into the enemy’s snares, but that if he does, he remembers that perfect redemption is only one prayer away. I pray that we can give him the foundation that he so desperately needs, and that we’ll be conduits of the Father’s love and grace and abundant mercy, even as imperfect as we are. I pray these things and so much more.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Sometimes I grow faint of heart with the fear of what battles this little boy may face, just because of how prevalent evil seems to be right now. Sometimes I am weak in the knees because I realize acutely that the enemy’s modus operandi is to come after a believer’s children most of all—and frankly, he’s too powerful for me.
But, then I remember that Satan is not too powerful for my Father, whom I trust explicitly, just like I do with all of my kids—that His truths will prevail. He has already been defeated.
And that is why I pray, day and night. I’ll fight the good fight on my knees, continuously because in MY weakness, HE is strong.
God, thank you for the gift of prayer. That we can battle for the hearts of our children by seeking You on their behalf. Please protect (name kids) from Satan’s lies. Help them to know your truth and help me to live your truth as an example to them. I plead for their hearts to always turn back to you and for you to give me wisdom in guiding them in Your love and truth as they grow. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
